The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and Ather Energy have joined hands to enhance India’s clean mobility and manufacturing ecosystem. This collaboration is part of the Startup Policy Forum’s ‘Build in Bharat’ initiative, which brings together over 50 innovation-driven startups to promote homegrown solutions.

The collaboration will provide strategic guidance to deep-tech startups, support infrastructure development in the EV value chain, and foster innovation through programs like the Bharat Startup Grand Challenge. It will also promote joint efforts in skill development, co-host major startup events such as Startup Mahakumbh, and organise hands-on exposure visits to encourage learning and collaboration.

The MoU was signed in the presence of DPIIT Joint Secretary Sanjiv Singh and Ather Energy’s Co-founder and CEO Tarun Mehta. Singh highlighted the transformative shift happening in India’s electric mobility sector and emphasized the role of startups in advancing EV technology and battery innovation.

Tarun Mehta expressed optimism about the collaboration, noting that stronger industry and policy alignment will help startups overcome technical challenges and build high-quality hardware solutions in India.

Shweta Rajpal Kohli, President and CEO of the Startup Policy Forum, said this partnership is a significant step towards making India a global hub for innovation-led manufacturing.

This initiative is set to open new doors for EV and manufacturing startups and support India’s journey toward sustainability and self-reliance.
