DHL to Invest ₹50 Crore in Semiconductor Logistics Facility in Dholera, Gujarat
DHL Group is planning to invest approximately ₹50 crore in a dedicated semiconductor logistics and warehousing facility in Dholera, Gujarat, strengthening the supply chain infrastructure supporting India’s expanding semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem.
According to a report by Mint, the facility is expected to become operational by August 2027. DHL may subsequently increase its investment by three to four times by 2030, depending on customer requirements and expansion plans.
The proposed facility will be located close to Tata Electronics’ semiconductor fabrication project in Dholera. It will cater to the specialised logistics requirements of semiconductor manufacturing, including controlled storage conditions, temperature and humidity management, electrostatic protection, vibration-free transportation, security and advanced tracking systems.
The project would mark DHL’s first dedicated semiconductor warehouse in India. The company has previously undertaken semiconductor raw-material storage activities at selected facilities in Gujarat and Assam.
The investment forms part of DHL’s €1 billion, approximately ₹10,700 crore, investment commitment for India announced in November 2025. According to the report, around ₹5,000 crore is earmarked for DHL Supply Chain India, with approximately 10% of that allocation intended to support semiconductor-related logistics.
Dholera is emerging as an important centre for India’s semiconductor ambitions, with Tata Electronics developing a 28-nanometre semiconductor fabrication facility in the region. The project is expected to begin operations in 2027, according to the report.
In September 2026, Japan’s NX Group also signed an agreement with India Semiconductor Mission under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to develop semiconductor logistics infrastructure and strengthen supply chains in India.
As India expands its semiconductor manufacturing capabilities, investments in specialised logistics, warehousing and transportation are becoming increasingly important. DHL’s proposed facility could help address these requirements by providing dedicated infrastructure for sensitive materials, high-value equipment and other semiconductor-related cargo.
The company’s proposed expansion by 2030 will depend on customer demand and the development of India’s semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem.
