Foxconn, the global electronics manufacturing giant from Taiwan, is all set to begin commercial iPhone production from its new plant in Devanahalli, near Bengaluru, starting June 2025. M.B. Patil, Karnataka’s Minister for Commerce & Industries confirmed in a recent post that the facility, located in the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR), is ready for inauguration and will soon begin deliveries.

300 acres of land has been acquired by Foxconn in the Doddaballapura and Devanahalli Taluks of Bengaluru Rural District. With a massive capital investment of ₹21,911 crore, the Devanahalli unit marks a significant boost to India’s electronics manufacturing ambitions. According to Minister Patil, this move signals more than just a new production milestone; it reflects a strategic shift with India emerging as Apple’s preferred global manufacturing hub amid ongoing global trade tensions.

Recently, Apple CEO Tim Cook had said that most of the iPhones sold in the U.S. during the June quarter will be manufactured in India. It reflects achievement for India’s growing role in global supply chains. Minister Patil proudly noted this as a major milestone for Karnataka, reinforcing its position on the global manufacturing map.

Meanwhile, concerns were expressed over Apple’s increasing operations in India and even asked Cook to reconsider expanding manufacturing in the country. However, despite this, Apple is committed to India, through Foxconn’s new facility, underlines the country’s increasing importance in the global electronics landscape. The development is also expected to attract further foreign investments into Karnataka.
