Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has launched a new initiative aimed at strengthening the state’s electronics manufacturing sector. The ‘Tamil Nadu Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme’ was introduced to attract investments worth Rs 30,000 crore and create 60,000 new jobs in the state.
This scheme is part of the state’s broader strategy to promote advanced electronics production and build a strong industrial base. It follows the recently introduced ‘Semiconductor and Advanced Electronics Policy 2024,’ which is designed to encourage value-added manufacturing and attract major players in the semiconductor and electronics sectors.
The new scheme specifically focuses on electronic components and offers attractive incentives for companies. It is aligned with the Central Government’s Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme, and Tamil Nadu will match the subsidies provided under the national initiative.
According to the official statement, this move will help further develop the electronics manufacturing ecosystem in the state.
Tamil Nadu has already made a mark by becoming the leading state in India for electronics exports. In the financial year 2024-25, the state recorded exports worth USD 14.65 billion, the highest ever by any Indian state.
This new scheme is expected to attract more companies, boost local manufacturing, and solidify Tamil Nadu’s position as a key electronics hub in India.
