Piyush Goyal Inaugurates Bharat Calling Conference 2025 in Mumbai

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, inaugurated the Bharat Calling Conference 2025, organized by the IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Mumbai. Themed “Path to Viksit Bharat 2047: Pioneering Prosperity for All,” the conference underscored India’s growing economic potential and its commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment.

India: A Global Investment Hub

In his keynote address, Goyal highlighted India’s rise as a major global investment destination, driven by a 1.4 billion-strong aspirational population. He credited initiatives such as Make in India, Digital India, Startup India, Swachh Bharat, and Atmanirbhar Bharat for preparing the nation for self-sufficiency and global trade expansion.

“India’s transformation during the Amrit Kaal will lead us to a prosperous and developed nation by 2047. We must open our businesses to international trade and embrace quality, sustainability, skill development, inclusivity, and competitiveness as key enablers,” said Goyal.

Key Enablers for Viksit Bharat 2047

Goyal outlined five essential pillars for achieving a developed India:

  • Quality Management – Urging businesses to adopt global quality standards, Goyal emphasized upgrading manufacturing practices to ensure India’s competitiveness.
  • Support for Small Businesses – Large enterprises must mentor and handhold MSMEs to enhance their operational and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Sustainability and Energy Efficiency – Businesses must embrace sustainable practices in line with India’s traditional values while prioritizing energy-efficient operations.
  • Inclusive Growth – Economic development should benefit all, with businesses playing a role through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
  • Competitiveness and Efficiency – Industries should focus on innovation, skill-building, and productivity rather than relying on government subsidies.

Empowering India’s Workforce

Goyal highlighted the government’s focus on skill development, announcing the establishment of two new skill centers in North Mumbai, following the launch of the first state-of-the-art skill center in Kandivali last year.

Global Collaboration & Future Outlook

The event witnessed participation from international dignitaries, including Rosslyn Bates, Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment, and Training, Queensland, Australia, and IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry President, Sanjaya Mariwala. The conference reaffirmed India’s position as a global economic powerhouse and set the stage for future growth and collaboration.
