MeitY Hosts State IT Secretaries’ Conference to Advance Digital Transformation and Strengthen Cybersecurity

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) hosted a high-level conference with State IT Secretaries on December 17, 2024, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Chaired by MeitY Secretary S. Krishnan, the event focused on fostering collaboration with states and UTs to drive digital transformation, bridge the digital divide, and enhance cybersecurity measures.
Representatives from 34 states and UTs, including officials from North Eastern and hilly regions, participated. Key discussions revolved around developing digital infrastructure, implementing e-office systems, and extending BharatNet to block levels. The conference emphasized capacity-building initiatives and entrepreneurship promotion.
Key Sessions and Outcomes
- Data Standardization and Cybersecurity: Discussions highlighted secure platforms for seamless data exchange and adherence to the DPDP Act. States like Telangana and Karnataka emphasized robust cybersecurity practices.
- Strengthening Digital Governance: Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, and others proposed IT agency enhancement and family registry systems, alongside recommendations for digital benchmarking and security audits.
- Adopting Emerging Technologies: AI, IoT, blockchain, and drone technologies were discussed to modernize governance, improve citizen interactions, and enhance services in sectors like healthcare and agriculture.
The conference reinforced the collective vision of creating a unified digital framework and leveraging technology to ensure inclusive, efficient, and secure governance across India.
