India–Singapore Semiconductor Collaboration Gains Momentum, Industry Dialogue Focuses on Investments and Supply Chains
ICEA and SSIA formalise a strategic partnership to strengthen India–Singapore semiconductor collaboration.
Efforts to strengthen semiconductor cooperation between India and Singapore are gathering pace, with industry leaders from both countries coming together for a high-level engagement in Singapore. The dialogue was facilitated by the India Cellular and Electronics Association in collaboration with the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association.
The interaction served as a platform to align industry priorities and explore deeper partnerships across the semiconductor and electronics value chain. Participants included senior representatives from India’s electronics ecosystem and a strong cross-section of Singapore’s semiconductor industry.
The engagement builds on the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding between ICEA and SSIA, which lays the foundation for a structured and long-term collaboration between the two ecosystems.
Discussions during the meeting underscored the natural complementarity between the two countries. Singapore’s strengths in semiconductor manufacturing, equipment, and global supply chain integration align well with India’s expanding manufacturing base, policy support, and large domestic market.
Industry leaders examined opportunities to establish a trusted semiconductor corridor between India and Singapore. Key focus areas included supply chain resilience, co-development of technologies, joint ventures, and investment partnerships. Deliberations also covered critical segments such as fabrication, ATMP/OSAT, semiconductor equipment, materials, and precision engineering.
Policy frameworks, talent development, and ecosystem readiness were also central to the discussions, reflecting a shared commitment to building a competitive and future-ready semiconductor landscape.
Speaking on the sidelines, Pankaj Mohindroo, Chairman, ICEA, highlighted that the partnership reflects a strong strategic alignment. He emphasised that Singapore’s advanced capabilities combined with India’s scale and policy momentum can play a pivotal role in building resilient and diversified semiconductor ecosystems.
Meanwhile, Amitesh Kumar Sinha, Additional Secretary at MeitY and CEO of the India Semiconductor Mission, noted that India’s semiconductor programme is gaining traction. He pointed out that 10 projects have already been approved — including two fabrication units and eight ATMP/OSAT facilities — with investments of approximately Rs 1.6 lakh crore. The next phase, he added, will focus on deepening the value chain and strengthening supply chain resilience, creating significant opportunities for global partners, including companies from Singapore.
