The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology approved 31 additional proposals under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme, involving a projected investment of Rs 6,844 crore, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced at an event in New Delhi organised in collaboration with the Electronic Industries Association of India. The latest approvals bring the total number of projects approved under ECMS to 106, covering 30 products across 15 states, with cumulative approved investment now standing at Rs 69,548 crore.

The event was attended by Minister of State for Electronics and IT Jitin Prasada, MeitY Secretary S. Krishnan, Joint Secretary Sushil Pal, ICEA chairman Pankaj Mohindroo and various other associations.

Vaishnaw said the ECMS is accelerating the development of a robust and deep-rooted domestic electronics value chain, moving decisively beyond assembly toward the manufacturing of critical components and essential raw materials. Of the 106 projects approved so far, 38 plants have already commenced manufacturing while another 16 are at advanced stages of construction or machinery installation.

The 31 projects approved in the latest round alone are expected to generate 9,588 direct jobs, with the combined approvals including an additional Rs 1,033 crore investment proposal from existing applicant Wipro Global Engineering and Electronic Materials for manufacturing copper-clad laminate bringing total investment under the latest tranche to Rs 7,877 crore, with projected production of Rs 82,243 crore.

The latest approvals span 20 target-segment products across sub-assemblies, components, supply-chain materials, and capital goods and include the first-ever domestic manufacturing of several critical components: filters, coils, and speakers, alongside essential raw materials such as acetylene black and electrolyte additives. The approvals are spread across 10 states Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

Key approvals in the sub-assembly category include Display Module Sub-Assembly for Minda Instrument Limited and TXB Optics, Camera Module Sub-Assemblies for SkyQuad Electronics, and Optical Transceiver-SFP for SFO Technologies, GX Quantum Photonics, and Huber Suhner Electronics. In components, approvals have been granted to Amphenol, Ennovi, and Rosenberger for connectors; Centum Electronics and Sensata Technologies for transducers; Syrma SGS Technology for coils; Globe Capacitors for capacitors; and Britannia RFID Technologies for antennas, among others.

On the materials side, Epsilon C2GR has been approved for anode material a key input for lithium-ion cells while PCBL Chemical has been approved for acetylene black and Acutaas Chemicals for electrolyte additives, deepening India’s domestic battery supply chain. Quantum Magnetics has received approval for rare-earth permanent magnets, and Capfilm India for metallised films for capacitors.

The scale of output already being achieved under the scheme reflects its early impact. Production capacity in several segments has crossed domestic demand anode material output is running at around 110 percent of domestic requirement, Optical Transceiver-SFP at 350 percent, and relays at 200 percent. Across all 106 approved projects, the scheme is expected to generate 74,628 direct jobs and 2.5 lakh indirect employment opportunities across 15 states, with total projected production of Rs 5,34,101 crore.
