Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal recently led a high-level Indian delegation to Italy, where he held a significant bilateral meeting with Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani in Brescia, Italy. The leaders co-chaired the 22nd session of the India-Italy Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation (JCEC), reaffirming the growing economic and strategic partnership between the two nations.

The JCEC focused on deepening cooperation in key areas such as Industry 4.0, energy transition, aerospace, and sustainable mobility. Both countries committed to strengthening collaboration in digital transformation, skill development, and connectivity projects like the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). Concrete outcomes included the decision to form Joint Working Groups in sectors like automobiles and space, and cooperation in agriculture, renewable energy, and food processing.

A special Growth Forum was organised during the visit, where over 90 Indian companies engaged with their Italian counterparts to explore business opportunities and industrial partnerships. Goyal held several one-on-one meetings with Italian CEOs and welcomed their interest in expanding operations in India.

Marking World Environment Day, Goyal and Deputy PM Tajani planted saplings under the “Ek Ped Maa ke Naam” initiative, honouring their mothers at the UNESCO-listed Santa Giulia complex. The leaders also visited A2A, a leading waste-to-energy company, exploring collaboration in clean energy and sustainability sectors.

This visit not only strengthened bilateral trade and industrial ties but also showcased India’s commitment to global partnerships, sustainability, and economic innovation.
