India Drives Global Telecommunications Standards at ITU-WTSA 2024

The ITU-World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA) 2024 concluded with India at the forefront of shaping the future of global telecommunications and digital innovation. The event saw record participation, with 3,700 delegates from over 160 nations, and introduced eight new resolutions, including India’s key proposals on AI in ICT, metaverse standardization, and digital public infrastructure.
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia emphasized technology’s role in fostering equity, while ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin lauded India’s leadership. India also secured maximum leadership roles in ITU-T Study Groups and promoted gender inclusion, reaffirming its global prominence in digital transformation.
