India is emerging as a global leader in Agentic AI adoption, with over 80% of businesses actively developing autonomous AI systems, according to Deloitte’s latest “State of GenAI (Fourth Wave)” report. Agentic AI involves AI-powered autonomous agents that can operate independently to achieve specific goals, driving efficiency and innovation.

The report highlights that 50% of Indian businesses prioritize multi-agent workflows, where sub-agents collaborate under a master agent. Additionally, 70% of firms are keen to use Generative AI (GenAI) for automation, and over half are conducting more than ten GenAI experiments.

Despite rapid adoption, challenges remain, with concerns about AI errors (36%), bias (30%), and data quality (30%) hindering large-scale deployment. Another 28% of businesses worry that current AI solutions may become obsolete within two years.

Deloitte India Partner Moumita Sarker emphasized that most Indian organizations prefer off-the-shelf AI tools over in-house development, making adaptability a key challenge. She stressed the importance of an agile innovation approach to sustain AI-driven growth.

With strategic investments in scalable ecosystems and strong governance, India is poised to maintain its leadership in AI adoption over the next two years.
