Apple Devices Become More Accessible with Braille Tools and Vision Pro Zoom
Apple has introduced a set of new accessibility features aimed at making its products more inclusive and user-friendly for people with disabilities. These updates, expected to roll out later this year, are designed to improve how users interact with devices like the iPhone, Mac, iPad, and the new Vision Pro headset.
One of the major additions is “Braille Access”, a feature that transforms Apple devices into braille-compatible note-taking tools. This feature enables navigation, opening of apps, and typing for visually impaired users by using braille device or Apple’s built-in Braille Screen Input.
For users who are blind or have low vision, the Apple Vision Pro headset will offer an enhanced zoom feature. It uses the main camera to magnify the user’s surroundings, improving visibility across their entire field of view.
Select apps like Be My Eyes for accessing the Visio Pro’s camera for real-time visual assistance is also allowed by Apple. This app connects users with volunteers who provide live support through video.
Apart from this, a universal reading mode to make on-screen text easier to read for users with dyslexia or low vision is also being launched by the company.
These upgrades reflect Apple’s ongoing commitment to creating more accessible, inclusive technology for everyone.
