Meta has expanded its smart glasses lineup by partnering with Oakley, a well-known American eyewear brand and part of the Luxottica group. The result of this collaboration is the Oakley Meta HSTN smart glasses, designed specifically for athletes and users who need durable, performance-focused eyewear. These glasses offer improved functionality over the earlier Meta Ray-Ban glasses, including up to 8 hours of continuous battery life and an additional 48 hours through the charging case.
One of the major upgrades is the camera, which now supports 3K video recording, offering much clearer and more detailed footage compared to the 1080p on previous models. The glasses also feature open-ear speakers, hands-free camera access, and an IPX4 water resistance rating, making them suitable for outdoor and sporty use. They are powered by Meta AI, allowing users to ask real-time questions, control settings with voice commands, and check weather or record videos effortlessly.
The limited-edition Oakley Meta HSTN glasses will be available for pre-order from July 11 at $499 in countries like the US, Canada, UK, and select European and Australian markets. The full Oakley Meta collection will roll out later in the summer, starting at $399, with planned launches in India, Mexico, and the UAE later this year.
In addition, Meta is reportedly developing Prada-branded smart glasses, while rivals like Alphabet are partnering with Warby Parker and Snap is working on its sixth-gen AR glasses, heating up the smart eyewear market.
