OnePlus has partnered with Optiemus Electronics to start manufacturing its premium Internet of Things (IoT) devices in India. Under its “Project Starlight” initiative, the company has launched local production of wireless products like truly wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds and neckbands to cater specifically to Indian consumers. Production has already begun with the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z3 at Optiemus’ facility, bringing high-quality audio devices with low latency and powerful performance under the ‘Made in India’ label.
This move aims to deepen localisation by reducing dependency on imports and enhancing supply chain resilience. OnePlus also plans to increase localisation at the bill-of-materials (BOM) level, helping cut production costs while maintaining quality. The initiative supports India’s growing demand for smart devices and complements OnePlus’ ongoing smartphone manufacturing efforts in the country.
Robin Liu, CEO of OnePlus India, stated that India has always been central to OnePlus’ growth and that this local manufacturing effort reflects the company’s commitment to innovation and community empowerment. Ashok Gupta, Executive Chairman of Optiemus Group, added that the partnership marks a major step forward in domestic electronics production, aiming to shape India’s future in smart manufacturing and IoT technology.
