Piyush Goyal Highlights Investment Potential in India at India-France Business Meet

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted India’s growing economic strength and investment potential at the India-France Business Conference in Paris. Addressing Indian and French companies, the minister promoted the ‘India Opportunity’ as he emphasized on India’s skilled workforce, business-friendly policies, and the vast scope for French companies to expand and invest in the Indian market.

In his address, Goyal urged both Indian and French firms to deepen their cooperation by building on mutual strengths. He noted that stronger collaboration between the business communities of both countries would further cement the strategic partnership between India and France. Goyal stressed that India’s commitment to ease of doing business, combined with talent and innovation, makes it an attractive destination for foreign investors.

The Union Minister further addressed at the India-France CEO Forum Small Group Meeting, alongside French Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade Laurent Saint-Martin where he discussed key areas of bilateral cooperation such as technology, artificial intelligence, education, and startups. Goyal noted that French businesses increasingly believe in India’s growth story and both sides are united in their ambition to create a smarter, tech-driven future.

During his meeting with Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Goyal reiterated India’s support for a fair, inclusive, and rules-based multilateral trading system, underlining the country’s role in global trade reform efforts.

Apart from this, the Minister explored new investment opportunities, discussed bilateral trade, and agreed to strengthen economic cooperation between India and Saudi Arabia during his meeing with Saudi Arabia’s Commerce Minister Majid Al-Kassabi.

In another key meeting with Laurent Saint-Martin, Goyal explored fresh ways to boost trade and investment between India and France. They also reaffirmed their shared vision to make technology the foundation of the Indo-French economic partnership, particularly ahead of the upcoming India-France Year of Innovation in 2026.

The meetings also reviewed the progress of the ongoing India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations, highlighting a strong commitment from both sides to advance economic growth and innovation through closer trade relations.
