Apple’s recent launch of the iPhone 16e on February 19, 2025, has sparked a surge in searches for the iPhone 16, according to Google Trends. As sales for the budget-friendly 16e begin today, February 28, online interest in the standard iPhone 16 has outpaced both the iPhone 15 series and the newly launched 16e.
Google Trends data reveals that while initial searches for the iPhone 16e spiked around its launch, interest has since shifted towards the iPhone 16. The iPhone 15 maintains moderate search levels, likely due to its revised pricing and the absence of Apple Intelligence, while the iPhone 15 Pro sees stable yet lower engagement. The iPhone 16, however, has shown consistent growth in search volume, indicating strong consumer curiosity and demand.
The iPhone 16e, positioned as the most affordable iPhone 16 series model, features a 6.1-inch OLED display, a single 48MP camera, and Apple’s A18 chip, albeit with one fewer GPU core than the iPhone 16. It also debuts Apple’s in-house C1 modem, a shift from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon modems. Despite these advancements, its Rs 59,900 starting price has generated mixed reactions, with some users calling it “expensive” rather than “essential.”
With Apple subtly moving away from the SE lineup, the iPhone 16e carves out a new budget segment but lacks MagSafe charging and mmWave 5G support. As Apple Intelligence becomes a major selling point, the search trend indicates that many consumers are considering upgrading to the more feature-packed iPhone 16 instead.
