Qualcomm Eyes Revenue Boost from Connected Cars and AI in India

2

Qualcomm is targeting significant growth in India by expanding its semiconductor sales for connected vehicles, artificial intelligence (AI) applications, and 5G technology. Currently, revenue from India’s automotive sector remains small, but Qualcomm sees immense potential as less than 5% of two-wheelers in India are connected.

The company is collaborating with domestic car brands like Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors to deploy advanced chips, including 5nm technology, which will enable voice-based AI interfaces in affordable cars.

Savi Soin, Qualcomm India’s senior vice-president, expects substantial growth in automotive chip sales over the next three years. With the increasing demand for connected features in vehicles, Qualcomm is positioning itself as a key player in the Indian automotive and smartphone markets.

While smartphones remain a dominant revenue source, Qualcomm is betting on India’s expanding digital and automotive transformation to boost its overall market share.
