Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, called upon the youth of India to become active participants in the country’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047. Speaking at the inauguration of India’s International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN) Conference 2025 in Noida, Goyal encouraged students to embrace their role as nation builders during the Amrit Kaal — the 25-year period leading to India’s 100th year of independence.

Drawing inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Panch Pran” or Five Pledges, Goyal emphasized that these principles serve as a guiding vision for a developed India. He explained that the first pledge is the collective resolve to make India a developed country, and today’s youth will be the key force in achieving this goal. He urged them to imagine their future contributions over the next two decades and to stay committed to this mission.

Goyal elaborated on the remaining four pledges. The second pledge is to abandon the colonial mindset. He stated that while India was once a global economic leader, foreign rule damaged the nation’s confidence. The youth, he said, must think beyond these limitations and set ambitious standards. The third pledge involves pride in India’s rich heritage, traditions, and value systems. Goyal stressed the importance of balancing development with cultural preservation, saying, “Vikas bhi, virasat bhi.”

He described national unity as the fourth pledge and commended IIMUN for uniting young minds from across India and abroad. According to Goyal, unity is India’s greatest strength and must be preserved to build a stronger nation. The final pledge is a shared national commitment — the collective effort of 1.4 billion Indians towards inclusive development. Goyal emphasized compassion, care for the marginalised, and shared responsibility as essential for progress.

He encouraged youth to consider public life and contribute meaningfully to policymaking. Echoing the Prime Minister’s call, he invited one lakh young people to step forward into politics and governance to become true agents of change. “Be the changemakers of tomorrow,” Goyal concluded. “With unity and dedication, we can achieve the dream of a Viksit Bharat.”
