Foxconn Profit Slips Despite AI Boom, Misses Market Expectations

Taiwanese electronics manufacturing giant Foxconn reported a 2% decline in fourth-quarter profit, missing market expectations despite strong global demand for artificial intelligence hardware.

The company, formally known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, posted a net profit of about T$45.21 billion ($1.42 billion) for the October–December quarter, falling short of analyst forecasts that projected significantly higher earnings. The firm did not specify reasons for the weaker-than-expected results.

Foxconn is a major supplier to global technology companies, assembling most of the iPhones for Apple and manufacturing AI servers for Nvidia. While a large share of iPhones are still produced in China, the company has increasingly shifted production for the U.S. market to India.

To meet rising AI infrastructure demand, Foxconn is expanding server manufacturing facilities in North America, including projects in Mexico and Texas. The company is also exploring opportunities in electric vehicles as part of its long-term diversification strategy.
