New Delhi, October 22, 2026: L&T Semiconductor Technologies Ltd (LTSCT) and Tata Electronics have entered into an agreement to explore semiconductor fabrication and packaging opportunities in India, bringing together L&T Semiconductor’s chip design and engineering expertise with Tata Electronics’ manufacturing capabilities.

Under the proposed collaboration, the companies will evaluate fabrication processes and packaging technologies for L&T Semiconductor’s existing and upcoming products. The engagement will also focus on design-to-manufacturing optimisation to enhance production efficiency, scalability and product quality.

The collaboration will target semiconductor applications across automotive, industrial, communications, security and intelligent-edge segments, with an emphasis on strengthening India’s domestic design and manufacturing capabilities for both Indian and global markets.

Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Chief Executive of L&T Semiconductor, said that semiconductor leadership increasingly depends on the ability to translate design innovations into scalable manufacturing solutions through advanced packaging and fabrication. He described the engagement with Tata Electronics as an important step towards enabling India to move up the semiconductor value chain and deliver globally competitive products.

Dr. Randhir Thakur, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Electronics, highlighted the complementary strengths of the two companies, noting that the partnership brings together L&T Semiconductor’s fabless design and engineering expertise with Tata Electronics’ capabilities in semiconductor manufacturing, packaging and testing.

The agreement also envisages work on packaging technologies, manufacturing processes and quality systems to support the development of reliable, high-quality semiconductor solutions.

The collaboration aligns with India’s broader ambition to establish a comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem under the government’s Manufacture in India, for India and for the World vision. By strengthening the connection between domestic chip design and manufacturing, the initiative could contribute to building a more integrated semiconductor value chain and expanding India’s role in the global electronics industry.
