SFO Technologies is planning a major expansion in Tamil Nadu with a proposed ₹2,270 crore investment to set up a plant in Theni district, focusing on printed circuit boards (PCBs) and other electronic components. The Kochi-based electronics manufacturing services company, part of the NeST Group, is expected to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Tamil Nadu government at the TN Rising Conclave in Madurai.

The proposed Theni facility will produce PCBs used in a wide range of devices, including smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, power supplies, and wireless chargers. The plant may also manufacture connectors, relays, composites, and optical transceivers. SFO Technologies plans to start production within two years and aims for full capacity utilisation within six years, subject to land acquisition. The company is eyeing a 60-acre plot in Theni and is finalising the land deal.

Theni was chosen for its proximity to Kerala, ease of commute, and administrative convenience, while also supporting the company’s strategy to diversify manufacturing beyond existing operations in Kerala and Karnataka. The project aligns with Tamil Nadu’s efforts to attract investments beyond traditional hubs like Chennai, Coimbatore, and Hosur. The plant may also leverage the region’s wind energy potential, supporting sustainable operations.
