BIS Launches New Department for Environmental Standards at Workshop

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has established a new Environment and Ecology Department (EED) dedicated to standardization in environmental issues. To kickstart its initiatives, BIS organized a workshop titled “Standardization for Environment and Ecology”.

Director General Pramod Kumar Tiwari emphasized the need for comprehensive ecological standards, stating that BIS aims to set benchmarks for sustainability both in India and globally.

Chief Guest Leena Nandan, Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, highlighted the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to develop standards that address societal needs. Over 100 experts attended the workshop.
