India, Germany Strengthen Ties with AI, Semiconductor, and Skilled Labour Initiatives

India and Germany unveiled a “Roadmap on Innovation and Technology” to bolster cooperation in artificial intelligence, semiconductor development, and clean energy during an Inter-Governmental Commission (IGC) meeting co-chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Agreements also included initiatives for skilled labour mobility, with Germany’s new strategy aiming to recruit 90,000 skilled workers annually from India, marking the first country-specific labour strategy for Germany. The roadmap features a managerial training program and an MoU on skill development.
Modi highlighted the deepening defence, technology, and green energy partnerships as symbols of mutual trust, calling India-Germany ties a “transformational partnership.” Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri noted advancements in defence and counter-terrorism cooperation, further solidifying trust.
Modi also expressed India’s readiness to contribute to peace efforts in Ukraine and West Asia, underscoring concerns over rule of law in the Indo-Pacific without directly naming China.
