Reliance Industries has announced the launch of Reliance Intelligence, a new wholly-owned subsidiary dedicated to advancing India’s artificial intelligence capabilities and positioning the country as a global AI hub. The announcement was made by Chairman Mukesh Ambani at the company’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2025, where he described the initiative as a historic step for India’s digital future.

Reliance Intelligence will work on four key missions to accelerate AI adoption in India. First, it will establish next-generation AI-ready infrastructure by building gigawatt-scale green energy-powered data centres. The first such facility is already under construction in Jamnagar. Second, it will bring together global technology leaders and open-source communities to ensure world-class performance and India-first compliance. Third, the subsidiary will focus on delivering easy-to-use and affordable AI services for consumers, small businesses, and enterprises, covering sectors such as education, healthcare, and agriculture. Lastly, it aims to nurture world-class AI talent, encouraging researchers and engineers to transform cutting-edge ideas into practical applications.

A major highlight of the AGM was Reliance’s announcement of a strategic partnership with Google. Together, the companies will create a dedicated Jamnagar Cloud region powered by Reliance’s clean energy and Google Cloud’s AI capabilities. Google CEO Sundar Pichai emphasized the partnership’s potential to expand India’s AI infrastructure and strengthen its innovation ecosystem.

Reliance also revealed a joint venture with Meta, investing ₹855 crore ($100 million) to build enterprise AI solutions based on Meta’s open-source Llama models. Reliance will hold a 70% stake in the venture, while Meta will retain 30%. The collaboration will provide AI-powered tools for sectors such as finance, IT, sales, and customer service. These enterprise-grade solutions will be available across cloud, on-premises, and dedicated infrastructure setups, enabling both small businesses and large corporations to harness AI at scale. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the partnership will bring open-source AI into real-world applications for Indian businesses.

Beyond AI software, Reliance Intelligence will also invest in robotics and intelligent automation, with a vision to transform industries such as manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and agriculture. Ambani highlighted the potential of humanoid robotics and adaptive production systems, stressing that intelligent automation will generate new industries, create jobs, and reshape India’s workforce for the future.

Ambani compared the launch of Reliance Intelligence to the digital revolution initiated by Jio a decade ago, which provided affordable internet access to millions. He stated that Reliance Intelligence now seeks to deliver AI everywhere and for every Indian. Backed by green energy infrastructure, global partnerships, and local talent development, the initiative aims to accelerate India’s AI journey over the next decade.
