Nvidia’s back to making its H200 AI chips for China after getting the green light from the US government and locking in some new orders. This is a big deal, especially since months of uncertainty pretty much froze everything.

CEO Jensen Huang says they’re firing up the production lines again now that several Chinese customers got their licenses approved. Supply chains are getting back on track, and he sounds a lot more optimistic than he did just a few weeks ago.

This all happens as US trade policies under Donald Trump shift, trying to protect national security while still keeping America ahead in AI. Before, Nvidia could sell certain chips to China, but only under rules like revenue-sharing.

It hasn’t been easy. Production stopped because of export controls and endless reviews—and Chinese regulators were slow to give the go-ahead. Even the H20 chip, made especially for China, hit trouble: it got stuck with export limits and didn’t attract much demand.

Now, these new approvals might open doors to big names like Alibaba and ByteDance, though Nvidia still needs a few more clearances before everything’s fully back up and running.
