London-based tech company Nothing announced that its sub-brand CMF will now function as a separate subsidiary with its global headquarters in India. The move highlights India’s growing role as a hub for technology development, research, and large-scale manufacturing.
To strengthen this commitment, Nothing has partnered with Optiemus Infracom, a leading Indian electronics manufacturer, to form a $100 million joint venture. The collaboration aims to transform India into a global production and export hub for both Nothing and CMF products. Over the next three years, the venture is expected to generate more than 1,800 new jobs, giving a significant boost to the country’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
So far, Nothing has invested over $200 million in India, underlining its long-term vision for the region. The announcement came after Nothing CEO Carl Pei met with IT and Electronics Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, where he emphasized India’s vital role in shaping the global smartphone and consumer tech industry.
Pei said the initiative will help CMF evolve into India’s first truly global consumer technology brand, built from India for the world. The partnership with Optiemus marks a major step toward expanding India’s footprint in premium technology manufacturing.
