Dell Technologies has announced the appointment of Manish Gupta as the new Managing Director and President for India, effective immediately. The leadership change comes shortly after the company’s major annual event, Dell Tech World, where it introduced a range of artificial intelligence-driven products and solutions to strengthen its position in the global technology landscape. Gupta replaces Alok Ohrie, who has decided to step down to focus on personal pursuits and spend more time with his family.
Based in Bengaluru, Manish Gupta will now be responsible for driving Dell’s business strategy, sales, and growth plans across the Indian market. He will report directly to Peter Marrs, President of Dell Technologies for Asia Pacific Japan and Greater China (APJC). Marrs expressed confidence in Gupta’s ability to lead Dell India into its next phase of innovation and expansion. “Manish has a strong background in technology, a deep understanding of the market, and the leadership skills necessary to propel Dell forward in India. His commitment to customer success, innovation, and partner collaboration will strengthen our industry leadership,” he said.
With over 25 years of experience in IT industry, Gupta has spent more than 10 years in key leadership roles at Dell Technologies. Most recently, he led the company’s global alliances, channel partnerships, and strategic development efforts across the APJC region. He has also served as Vice President of the Infrastructure Solutions Group in India, where he played an instrumental role in the company’s growth.
In a statement, Manish Gupta shared his enthusiasm about his new role. “India is at a pivotal stage in its digital transformation journey, and technology is at the heart of this change. With Dell’s strong team, innovative solutions, and a culture focused on excellence, I’m excited to help Indian enterprises unlock new levels of agility and competitiveness,” he said.
Gupta has done Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Punjab University and an MBA from IIM, Lucknow. Apart from this, the newly-appointed Dell MD is also a Fulbright-Nehru Fellow for Leadership in Management from Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business.
With Gupta at the helm, Dell Technologies aims to deepen its commitment to India’s growing digital economy and play a leading role in accelerating technology-driven progress.
