In a forward-looking move, the Karnataka government has launched a comprehensive study to understand how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is affecting the job market across the state. This “AI Workforce Impact Study” was announced on June 17, 2025, as part of preparations for the upcoming IT Policy 2025. The initiative aims to assess how AI is transforming work environments, identify skill gaps, and ensure workers are not left behind in the evolving tech landscape.
Priyank Kharge, Minister for Electronics, IT, and Biotechnology, said the study will guide smart interventions under the government’s flagship skilling program, NIPUNA Karnataka. He emphasized the importance of data-driven policymaking to support inclusive growth, especially as Bengaluru continues to lead in AI and Big Data, with over one lakh AI professionals and a tech workforce crossing 1 million.
The study invites participation from industry leaders, HR professionals, technologists, and academia to share insights on how AI is changing daily operations, business roles, and automation trends. Findings will help shape skill development efforts and prepare the workforce for future job roles. The survey is open until June 27, 2025, and available at shorturl.at/dNNQU.
