India’s Smartphone Shipments Rise in Q2 2025, Breaking Two-Quarter Decline

After two straight quarters of decline, India’s smartphone market regained momentum in the June 2025 quarter, posting a 7-8% year-on-year growth. Shipments reached an estimated 37-38 million units, supported by a wave of new model launches across all price ranges, improved retailer margins, and stronger promotional campaigns.
However, analysts noted that consumer demand was still relatively subdued, and the surge in average selling prices (ASP) could restrain overall annual growth. ASPs climbed 10.8% YoY to a record $275. The budget segment showed notable strength, expanding by 22.9% and boosting its market share to 16% from 14% a year earlier.
Apple continued its upward trajectory, with shipments rising 21.5% YoY to 5.9 million units in the first half of 2025. The iPhone 16 led the charts as the most-shipped model, accounting for 4% of total shipments. Offline retail channels grew 14.3% YoY, increasing their share to 53.6%, while online sales stayed flat.
