Gujarat Unveils Electronics Components Policy to Boost Rs 35,000 Cr Investment

Gujarat has introduced the Gujarat Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy 2025 (GECMS-2025), with a bold aim to attract over ₹35,000 crore in investments and generate a high-skilled workforce in electronics. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel launched the policy to align with the Centre’s Electronics Components and Semiconductors (ECMS) scheme. A major highlight is the state’s offer of 100% top-up incentives for projects already approved by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), providing dual benefits. Gujarat has promised to release its share of funds within 30 working days once the Centre disburses its portion.

The policy focuses on building a strong upstream electronics manufacturing base and reducing dependence on imports. Priority sectors include multi-layer and HDI printed circuit boards (PCBs), lithium-ion battery cells, surface mount devices (SMDs), camera and display modules, passive components, and specialised machinery. With four semiconductor units already established, the state aims to integrate deeper into global supply chains.

To strengthen innovation and skills, the policy offers R&D grants of up to ₹12.5 crore to academic institutions for Centres of Excellence, Applied Research Labs, and Finishing Schools. These initiatives are designed to create an industry-ready, future-focused talent pool. The Gujarat State Electronics Mission (GSEM) will manage the policy’s implementation. Interested investors must apply by July 31. The state has clarified that these incentives are separate from the Gujarat Electronics Policy 2022-28 to avoid overlap and duplication.
