Electronics and pharmaceuticals have emerged as the top beneficiaries of India’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme in FY25, accounting for nearly 70% of the total disbursements. As per official data, the government released ₹10,114 crore under the PLI scheme this year, out of which electronics firms received ₹5,732 crore and pharmaceutical companies received ₹2,328 crore.

Launched in 2021 with a total outlay of ₹1.97 lakh crore, the PLI scheme aims to strengthen domestic manufacturing across 14 sectors. The significant share of funds going to electronics and pharma reflects India’s growing capacity and focus on high-value manufacturing and exports.

In FY25, electronic goods exports rose sharply by 32.46%, reaching $38.58 billion—up from $29.12 billion the previous year. This surge placed electronics among India’s top three global export categories. A notable rise was seen in computer hardware and peripherals, which doubled to $1.4 billion, marking 101% growth. Major export destinations included the US, UAE, Netherlands, UK, and Italy.

Pharmaceutical exports also continued their strong performance, growing nearly 10% to $30.5 billion. Indian medicines now reach over 200 countries, showcasing the sector’s global trust and reach.

Other sectors that received PLI disbursements include telecom (₹840 crore), food processing (₹448 crore), white goods (₹210 crore), and automobiles (₹322 crore). The figures underline India’s strategic push to enhance its manufacturing strength and become a key global export hub through targeted government support.
