Dixon Gets Green Light for Joint Venture with Longcheer to Boost Smart Device Manufacturing in India

Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has approved the joint venture between Dixon Technologies and Chinese company Longcheer. The partnership will be executed through Longcheer’s Singapore-based subsidiary, with Dixon holding a 74% stake and Longcheer owning the remaining 26%. The new entity will be named Dixtel Infocomm once the final agreements are signed.
This joint venture aims to manufacture and supply a range of smart electronic products in India, including smartphones, tablets, true wireless audio devices, smartwatches, AI-powered PCs, automotive electronics, and healthcare gadgets. The move is expected to strengthen India’s electronics manufacturing capabilities, particularly in Original Design Manufacturing (ODM) and localisation of non-semiconductor sub-components.
Longcheer is known for designing products for global brands like Vivo, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Samsung. Through this collaboration, Dixon plans to enhance its technological capabilities and reduce import dependency. The company is also in talks with other Chinese players such as Chongqing Yuhai Precision and Kunshan Q Technology, while a separate JV with Vivo is currently in progress. This strategic move reinforces Dixon’s position in India’s rapidly growing electronics sector.
