The Government of Andhra Pradesh will sign a landmark agreement with Google to set up a 1-gigawatt hyperscale data centre campus in Visakhapatnam, marking the foundation of “AI City Vizag.” Valued at nearly $10 billion (₹80,000 crore), this will be one of Google’s largest projects in Asia and will power India’s AI-driven digital transformation.

The new AI hub will bring together advanced AI infrastructure, a large-scale data centre, renewable energy, and an expanded fibre network—turning Vizag into a key driver of India’s tech future. The facility will be integrated with Google’s global network through secure subsea and terrestrial systems, ensuring high-speed, sustainable connectivity.

According to state projections, the project will contribute around ₹10,518 crore annually to GSDP between 2028 and 2032 and support over 1.88 lakh jobs each year. It will also generate productivity benefits worth ₹47,720 crore over five years through Google Cloud–enabled innovation.

The agreement, approved by the State Investment Promotion Board chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, will be facilitated through single-window clearances, renewable energy, and plug-and-play infrastructure. The MoU will be signed in New Delhi in the presence of key Union Ministers and top Google executives, including Thomas Kurian and Karan Bajwa.

This development will establish Vizag as India’s first dedicated AI City—strengthening the country’s position in the global AI landscape.
