The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) under NITI Aayog and Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) have announced a nationwide start-up acceleration programme to support India’s shift toward a circular economy. Launched under HUL’s Project Circular Bharat, the initiative aims to identify and mentor 50 promising start-ups over the next three years. The programme will mainly focus on solutions for plastic circularity, including recycling, reuse and refill systems, and innovative packaging materials. It will also support ventures working on material recovery in areas such as textiles and e-waste.
Selected start-ups will receive specialised mentorship from industry experts, policymakers, and investors. They may also qualify for grant funding and pilot opportunities to test their solutions in real market conditions. The collaboration brings together AIM’s policy and innovation support, HUL’s industry expertise, and Xynteo’s strategic capabilities to accelerate meaningful progress in circular economy practices across India.
BP Biddappa, Executive Director at HUL, said the partnership reflects a strong commitment to building a sustainable plastic ecosystem and empowering young innovators. Dr. Deepak Bagla, Mission Director of AIM, added that the initiative aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of sustainability as a core national commitment. Together, the programme aims to reduce waste, transform recycling, and foster India’s future green industries.
