Global TWS Earbud Sales to Grow 3% in 2025 as Budget Models Surge

The global market for true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds is projected to grow about 3 percent year on year in 2025, says Counterpoint Research. The modest rise reflects longer product life, tight budgets and limited breakthrough features. Counterpoint notes that many pandemic‑era purchases are still in use, stretching replacement cycles. Yet people increasingly treat cordless buds as daily essentials, so steady upgrade demand should keep sales climbing through 2028.
Models below US$50 remain the main growth engine, especially in emerging nations where many buyers are still on their first pair. Big brands will keep momentum thanks to loyal users, fresh designs and deep ecosystems, while hundreds of cheap “long‑tail” labels will supply volume but swing with local trends.
Apple has revived buzz with updated AirPods and is rumoured to launch AirPods Pro 3 offering richer sound and basic health data. High launch prices, however, limit immediate shipment gains; stronger volume is likely in 2027 when cheaper AirPods and a new noise‑cancelling option arrive. Xiaomi, meanwhile, is expanding share with keen pricing and a broad catalogue.
Indian favourite boAt is losing pace as first‑time buyers fade and upgraders demand smarter, AI‑ready audio; weak ecosystem links add to the slide. JBL, in contrast, is thriving in India’s mid‑range on the back of brand trust and consistent audio quality.
In all, analysts expect measured but reliable expansion, with innovation in audio intelligence, health tracking and ecosystem perks set to decide the next wave of winners for earbuds worldwide over the coming three years.
