Fujifilm Partners with Tata Electronics to Boost India’s Chip Supply

With an aim to build a robust semiconductor materials ecosystem in India, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by Fujifilm Corporation and Tata Electronics. This partnership marks a major step in India’s push for self-reliance in semiconductor production, which is crucial as the country currently imports most of its chip needs. Fujifilm will support Tata Electronics by supplying advanced semiconductor materials tailored to their manufacturing requirements.
Tata Electronics is setting up India’s first semiconductor front-end manufacturing facility in Dholera, Gujarat, along with a back-end manufacturing unit in Jagiroad, Assam. Fujifilm, known for its wide portfolio of semiconductor materials, will provide materials needed for both front-end and back-end processes. This collaboration aims to accelerate the launch and operation of Tata Electronics’ semiconductor plants, strengthening India’s position in the global semiconductor industry.
The Japanese multinational conglomerate plans to explore the possibility of setting up a manufacturing facility in India and sourcing raw materials locally. This will help meet the increasing demand for semiconductors while boosting local production capabilities. The product range of Fujifilm include photoresists, CMP slurries, polyimides, and high-purity process chemicals, all vital for semiconductor manufacturing.
This alliance supports the Indian government’s vision of creating a strong domestic semiconductor industry. It also aligns with Fujifilm’s global strategy of expanding its semiconductor materials business and offering complete solutions for chip manufacturing.
