Bharat Telecom 2025, a flagship event to position India as a global telecom leader, was inaugurated in New Delhi by Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. Organized by the Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC) in partnership with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), the two-day event is a major step toward promoting India’s telecom manufacturing and export potential.
In his address, Minister Scindia highlighted India’s rapid telecom growth, calling it a revolution. He said the country had connected 99% of its villages with 5G in just 22 months and built a vast digital infrastructure with over 4.7 lakh towers, connecting 82% of the population. He emphasized that this development is not just about connectivity, but about providing 1.4 billion people access to healthcare, education, governance, and economic growth.
Minister Scindia credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership for transforming India from a digital follower to a global leader. He said, “Every byte we transmit brings people closer to opportunity,” noting that India’s telecom sector has moved from high-cost, limited access to becoming the world’s second-largest market and the most affordable data provider.
Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, Minister of State for Communications, echoed this sentiment, saying India is now a telecom creator, not just a consumer. He highlighted initiatives like the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme and the Telecom Technology Development Fund, which have supported innovation, manufacturing, and exports. He noted that India now produces 15% of the world’s iPhones and is eyeing leadership in 6G, satellite broadband, and quantum networks.
Over 80 Indian telecom and ICT companies participated, showcasing next-gen products and services. More than 130 foreign delegates from 35+ countries attended the event, which also featured B2B meetings, networking sessions, and technology forums on 5G, IoT, AI, satellite communication, and broadband infrastructure.
TEPC Chairman Arnob Roy said Bharat Telecom 2025 is a testament to India’s innovation and reliability in telecom. The event reaffirmed India’s role as a trusted global telecom hub, moving from “made-for-India” to “made-by-India.”
