TCS, IBM Join Hands Andhra Pradesh Govt. to Build India’s Largest Quantum Computer

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and IBM have joined hands with Andhra Pradesh government to build India’s largest quantum computer in Amaravati. The computer will be installed at the upcoming Quantum Valley Tech Park, where IBM’s Quantum System Two, powered by a 156-qubit Heron processor, will be deployed. The development is a big step in country’s journey towards becoming a leader in quantum technology.

According to TCS, the collaboration with IBM aims to build advanced quantum algorithms and applications for both industries and academic institutions. These tools will help solve complex problems that traditional computers can’t handle efficiently. The project also supports India’s National Quantum Mission and seeks to accelerate the growth of the country’s quantum ecosystem.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu emphasized that quantum computing is set to revolutionize all major sectors in the coming decades. By launching this initiative, the state aims to attract top talent, create high-skilled jobs, and position itself as a global hub for quantum innovation.

IBM’s Jay Gambetta highlighted that the project will enhance India’s quantum capabilities and engage a wide range of developers, scientists, and industry experts. Members of the Quantum Valley Tech Park will also get access to IBM’s cloud-based quantum systems for further research and collaboration.

TCS CTO Harrick Vin expressed excitement about the partnership, stating that it will drive technological innovation and economic growth by addressing complex challenges through cutting-edge quantum solutions.
