KC Ang, Ex-Global Foundries Exec, Joins Tata Semiconductor as President

Tata Electronics has named KC Ang as the president and head of its semiconductor unit. The company announced his appointment on Wednesday, highlighting his role in advancing its AI-enabled semiconductor operations. Ang will report to Tata Electronics CEO and MD Randhir Thakur and will play a key role in establishing the company as a global semiconductor leader.

Welcoming Ang, Thakur stated, “His extensive industry knowledge will be valuable as we progress toward commencing operations at our Dholera Fab. He will drive manufacturing operations and strengthen collaborations with customers and ecosystem partners.”

With over 30 years of experience in the foundry industry, Ang previously served as the Asia president and chairman of Chinese operations at Global Foundries, where he worked for over 15 years. He holds a mechanical engineering degree from National Taiwan University and a master’s from the University of Texas.

Expressing enthusiasm, Ang said, “This is a crucial moment for India’s semiconductor industry, and I look forward to driving Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing to global prominence.”

Established in 2020, Tata Electronics is India’s only vendor assembling iPhone enclosures for Apple and employs over 65,000 people.
