BEL Secures ₹2,463 Crore Defence Contract for Ashwini Radars

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has won a ₹2,463 crore contract from the Ministry of Defence to supply Ashwini Radars to the Indian Air Force. Following the announcement, BEL’s stock rose 1.55% to ₹281.05.

The indigenous Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radars have been developed jointly by BEL and DRDO. These advanced radars feature electronic scanning in azimuth and elevation, along with an Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) system for 4D surveillance. Designed for all terrains, they can automatically detect and track aerial targets, including fighter jets and slow-moving objects.

BEL, a Navratna PSU, is India’s leading supplier of radar, communication, and electronic warfare systems. The Government of India holds a 51.14% stake in the company. In Q3 FY25, BEL’s net profit surged 47.33% to ₹1,316.06 crore, with revenue rising 39.15% to ₹5,756.12 crore compared to the previous year.
