India Gears Up for WAVES 2025, Calls for Global Media Collaboration

The Government of India is set to engage with the global community ahead of the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025, which will take place in Mumbai from May 1-4, 2025. As part of this initiative, a Global Media Dialogue will be held on March 13, 2025, at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi, bringing together over 100 ambassadors and high commissioners to discuss opportunities and challenges in the Media & Entertainment (M&E) sector.

The event will be led by External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of State Dr. L. Murugan, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The discussion will focus on how WAVES can serve as a unified global platform to drive international collaboration, technological innovation, and ethical media practices.

Global Media Dialogue: Key Focus Areas

The Global Media Dialogue, scheduled for May 2, 2025, at WAVES 2025 in Mumbai, will bring together industry leaders, policymakers, and media professionals to shape the future of the entertainment sector. Key discussions will focus on:

  • Enhancing cross-border collaboration in M&E
  • Strengthening partnerships for knowledge-sharing and innovation
  • Promoting ethical and transparent trade practices in media
  • Addressing concerns related to technology, content ownership, and distribution

WAVES 2025: A Global Media & Entertainment Convergence

WAVES 2025 aims to connect India’s thriving M&E industry with global markets. It will serve as a platform to showcase India’s creative and technological capabilities, spanning sectors such as broadcasting, television, radio, film, animation, gaming, digital media, AI, AR, VR, and XR.

To drive innovation and industry growth, WAVES 2025 will feature:

  • WAVES Bazaar: A global marketplace for content acquisition and business partnerships, including the first-ever e-bazaar for year-round content trade.
  • WaveXcelerator: A startup accelerator linking M&E innovators with investors and mentors.
  • CreatoSphere: An immersive experience with masterclasses, workshops, gaming arenas, and the WAVES CIC Awards.

By fostering global partnerships and technological advancements, WAVES 2025 aims to position India as a leading hub for content creation, intellectual property, and media innovation.
