Apple Gears Up for Second Phase of Retail Expansion in India

Apple is gearing up for the second phase of its retail expansion in India, with plans to open four new stores in Pune, Delhi NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. The development was confirmed by John Taffe, an Apple Store leader, who announced on LinkedIn that the company has begun hiring for these locations. This expansion follows the successful launch of Apple’s first physical stores in Mumbai (BKC) and Delhi (Saket) in April 2023.
To support this growth, Apple is actively recruiting talented professionals for various customer service and management roles. More than twenty job openings have been listed on the Apple Jobs website, with at least eight specific to retail positions posted on March 10, 2025. The company aims to build a team that will deliver exceptional customer experiences in its new stores.
Apple’s retail expansion comes on the heels of its record-breaking Q1 2025 fiscal results in India, where iPhones emerged as the top-selling smartphone model. This success has reinforced Apple’s confidence in India’s growing market potential. Since launching its online store in 2020 and the Apple Store app India edition in January 2024, the company has significantly strengthened its direct-to-consumer outreach.
Beyond retail, Apple is also scaling up local manufacturing, producing the entire iPhone 16 lineup in India as part of its Make in India initiative, which began in 2017. This strategic move highlights Apple’s long-term commitment to India’s market and supply chain ecosystem.
