Piyush Goyal Urges Stronger Supply Chains, Quality Exports in Electronics

Union Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has called on India’s electronics industry to focus on strengthening supply chains, enhancing quality standards, and delivering competitive products globally. Speaking as the Chief Guest at the 16th Edition of ELECRAMA, Goyal emphasized the need to prioritize consumer interests over protectionism.
India’s Growing Role in Global Electronics Trade
Highlighting India’s rapid progress in electronic exports, Goyal noted that the sector has risen from 167th position in 2015 to the second-largest export category in 2025. In January 2025 alone, India’s electronic exports hit $3 billion. He urged industry leaders to make India a global hub for electrical and electronic goods, setting a target of $100 billion in exports over the next seven years.
Government’s Support for Electronics & Innovation
Goyal underscored the government’s role in fostering industry growth, stating that in the last decade, India has:
- Doubled transmission infrastructure and renewable energy capacity.
- Established 1,800 Global Capability Centers (GCCs).
- Produced a highly skilled workforce, leveraging India’s STEM talent.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to initiatives like ‘Digital India,’ ‘Make in India,’ ‘Design in India,’ and ‘Serve from India’, aimed at making India a global leader in high-quality manufacturing and services.
India’s Vision for Global Trade & Partnerships
Addressing the theme ‘Bharat – The Vishwa Mitra’, Goyal emphasized India’s approach to global trade as a fair and balanced partner, offering world-class goods and services at competitive prices. He reiterated that India’s growth relies on scaling up businesses, skilling its workforce, and maintaining policy stability.
