MeitY Unveils Digital Brand Identity Manual to Streamline India’s Digital Governance

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has taken a significant step towards harmonizing India’s digital presence with the launch of the Digital Brand Identity Manual (DBIM) and the inaugural Chief Information Officer (CIO) Conference 2025 in New Delhi. The initiative, launched under the Gov.In: Harmonization of Government of India’s Digital Footprint program, aims to create a standardized, accessible, and citizen-centric digital governance ecosystem.
DBIM: A Game-Changer for Government Digital Presence
Union Minister Jitin Prasada emphasized that DBIM aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Reform, Perform, and Transform”, reinforcing India’s e-governance capabilities. The initiative ensures a cohesive digital identity across government platforms, enhancing accessibility for citizens from diverse backgrounds.
MeitY Secretary S. Krishnan highlighted the Prime Minister’s directive to unify government websites, ensuring a user-friendly experience comparable to leading private-sector platforms. He emphasized that NIC will play a crucial role in modernizing government infrastructure, improving transparency, and strengthening digital governance.
Key Features of DBIM Initiative
The DBIM rollout includes several crucial components:
- DBIM Toolkit – Establishes a uniform digital identity across government platforms.
- Gov.In CMS Platform – Facilitates streamlined website management for ministries and agencies.
- Central Content Publishing System (CCPS) – Enables centralized content governance for consistent messaging.
- Social Media Campaign Guidelines – Standardizes digital communication across platforms.
The launch also featured the DBIM-compliant MeitY website, alongside the migration of other ministry websites to the Gov.In CMS platform, with more expected to follow soon.
CIO Conference 2025: Strengthening Digital Governance
The first Chief Information Officer (CIO) Conference 2025 brought together experts from MeitY, NIC, MyGov, and various ministries to discuss DBIM’s implementation. Key discussions covered:
