Micromax and Phison Partner to Manufacture AI-Enabled Storage Chipsets in India

Micromax Informatics has joined forces with Taiwan’s storage chip leader, Phison, to establish a joint venture, MiPhi, aimed at designing and manufacturing AI-enabled storage chipsets in India. Micromax holds a 55% stake in the venture, while Phison owns 45%.
Production has already commenced at Micromax’s Noida facility, focusing on developing advanced storage solutions for servers—a critical component for security and strategic infrastructure. “This partnership with Phison enables us to strengthen India’s position in storage technology, reducing GPU costs by up to 90% and offering the lowest per-token cost globally,” said Rahul Sharma, Co-Founder of Micromax.
The venture aims to revolutionize AI technology in India and expand its impact to targeted international markets. Leveraging Phison’s expertise in NAND controller technology, MiPhi is set to disrupt the storage and AI landscape, driving innovation and cost efficiency in the growing tech ecosystem.
