Jitin Prasada Inaugurates 4th Edition of India Internet Governance Forum 2024

The 4th edition of the India Internet Governance Forum (IIGF) was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Jitin Prasada, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. With the theme “Innovating Internet Governance for India,” the forum highlighted India’s commitment to sustainable and inclusive digital growth, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and civil society.
Prasada called IIGF 2024 a “strong call to action,” emphasizing the need for collective efforts to shape digital policies rooted in equality, transparency, and sustainability. He celebrated India’s remarkable achievements under the Digital India initiative, including the linkage of 95% of villages to 3G-4G networks, fostering equal opportunities for all.
The Minister also spotlighted India’s startup ecosystem, which now spans over 600 districts, with a significant share led by women entrepreneurs. He outlined the government’s ambitious vision to position India as a global AI leader, backed by the ₹10,000 crore India AI Mission.
Key discussions at IIGF 2024 revolved around bridging the digital divide, responsible AI, green digital practices, and cybersecurity. India’s proactive steps in promoting internet resilience, reducing carbon footprints, and advancing global collaborations underscored its role as a model for digital transformation.
The forum set the stage for shaping a secure, inclusive, and sustainable digital future.
