Dixon Technologies to Set Up $3 Billion Display Fabrication Facility in India

Dixon Technologies, a leading domestic contract manufacturer, has announced plans to establish a $3 billion (₹25,860 crore) display fabrication unit in India, marking a significant expansion into the electronics components industry. The company is in discussions with a global technology partner and awaits guidelines under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 2.0 to finalize the project, according to Dixon’s Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Atul Lall.
This move is aimed at localizing production, enhancing supply chain control, and achieving cost efficiencies, as India currently imports display chip components. Dixon’s entry into the display fabrication sector is expected to add significant value and contribute to India’s growing electronics ecosystem.
Dixon’s new facility will cater to existing customers in the mobile, television, and notebook segments, with an eye on other sectors as well. The display fabrication business is expected to yield high EBITDA margins.
In its latest earnings report, Dixon posted a 124% year-on-year increase in net profit, reaching ₹217 crore for the October-December quarter. The company’s revenue surged by 117% to ₹10,461 crore, driven by a 190% growth in mobile business revenue. Dixon is also expanding its production into laptops for HP, Asus, Lenovo, and Acer.
