In a significant move towards self-reliance in defence technology, the Indian Army’s Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE) and the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) at MCTE, Mhow. This collaboration aims to advance research and development in cutting-edge defence technologies tailored for India’s strategic needs.

The CoE will focus on key areas, including Quantum Computing, Cybersecurity, Wireless Communication, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), Sensory Augmentation, and Digital Twin technologies. By combining MCTE’s operational expertise with C-DAC’s advanced R&D capabilities, the initiative will deliver indigenous innovations and field-ready prototypes to address critical military challenges.

The partnership also emphasizes knowledge-sharing through workshops, seminars, and executive training programs to build a skilled workforce. Highlighting the CoE’s importance, Lt Gen K H Gawas, Commandant of MCTE, stated, “This collaboration will drive technological excellence and bolster India’s defence capabilities.”

Dr. E. Magesh, Director General, C-DAC, remarked, “This initiative is a step towards strengthening India’s strategic capabilities through innovation.”

The CoE sets a new benchmark in military-academic collaborations, reinforcing the Indian Army’s leadership in adopting advanced technologies and furthering the vision of Aatmanirbharta.
