Apple to Begin AirPods Assembly in India

Apple is set to commence the production of AirPods in India starting early 2025, marking a significant step in its efforts to reduce dependency on China. The assembly will take place at a Foxconn-operated facility near Hyderabad, Telangana. Production is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2025, with full-scale operations ramping up shortly thereafter, sources reveal.
This move makes AirPods the second flagship Apple product to be manufactured in India, following the iPhone. Apple has been actively expanding its production capabilities in the country, leveraging India’s favorable policies, skilled labor force, and improving technological infrastructure. The shift comes amid Apple’s broader strategy to diversify its supply chain due to geopolitical tensions, trade uncertainties, and the need for greater resilience against disruptions.
India’s growing appeal as a manufacturing hub aligns with Apple’s global strategy to minimize risks and enhance flexibility. Alongside India, Apple is also expanding operations in Vietnam and other emerging markets. By establishing production in these regions, the tech giant aims to secure its supply chain while reducing costs and enhancing operational stability. This diversification effort positions Apple to better navigate the challenges of an increasingly complex global market, ensuring sustained growth and resilience.
