WAVES 2025 to Showcase AI Solutions Against Misinformation in Live Broadcasting

The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, in collaboration with India Cellular & Electronics Association (ICEA), has launched the TruthTell Hackathon, an initiative under the Create in India Challenge (CIC) – Season 1 at the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025. This challenge aims to develop AI-powered solutions to detect and counter misinformation in live broadcasting, promoting transparency and ethical journalism.
Global Participation & Women’s Involvement
The Hackathon has received an overwhelming response with 5,600+ registrations worldwide, including an impressive 36% participation from women.
Key Objectives
- Develop AI tools for real-time misinformation detection.
- Strengthen media transparency and trust in news reporting.
- Ensure ethical AI integration in journalism and broadcasting.
Hackathon Timeline & Key Dates
- Prototype Submission Deadline: 21st February 2025
- Final Presentations: End-March 2025
- Winners Showcase: WAVES Summit 2025
